True color

My mother recently had a birthday, and I am so proud of her. Not just because of another year, but because my mother is growing out her natural hair color. Though this may seem like a small feat, with the way societal standards are, its pretty huge. For as long as I can remember my mother has dyed her hair. I remember her walking around the house in a pajama shirt and her hair made up in hair dye. But this year, momma doesn’t have to buy hair dye anymore.

Honestly she didn’t see the big deal in taking this step, but I think it is bad ass. Everyone is trying so hard not to show their true age, fillers, hair dye, and so forth. And though there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. No one should feel like they need to do something because of society’s standards. She is going against what many people don’t think we should do, age.

My mother is one of the most gorgeous women I know (though I may be a bit biased). She has not only fought for herself, but everyone around her. And now she is fighting for what is right, with as simple as the color of her hair. It says a lot and takes a certain amount of confidence to wear your true skin, whatever that may be, and she is killing it. So brush off what people are saying, and do what makes you happy. Stand up for what you think is right, and stand up with the best you. Maybe I’m just passionate about my momma, but these small decisions can make an impact we don’t always realize.
